			<itunes:summary>Communication is one of the keys to healthy relationships both within and outside of the family. Whether verbal or non-verbal, words hold great power that can expand the potential of others or limit them in ways that scar - whether we always intend them too or not. The Bible says that the tongue wields amazing power. The writer of Proverbs says the tongue has the power of life and death. And James warns that being careless with our words does significant damage to the very people for whom Jesus gave His life.

Jesus said that the reality is that what comes out of our mouths is an indication of what’s really going on inside of our hearts. We need the same God who can forgive us for the misuse of our lips to cleanse our hearts and fill them continually with his grace and his mercy—so that with our tongues we can bless and honor Him and we can speak words that bless and build up others.</itunes:summary>

			<title>The Keys to Passing On the Faith</title>
			<itunes:author>CrossRoads Nazarene Church AZ</itunes:author>
			<itunes:subtitle />
			<itunes:summary>04/20/2008 - Pastor Dan Spaite - Today we continue our teaching series on building strong families. Whether you have children...or hope to someday...the issue of being the kind of person who can pass the faith on is incredibly important. The spirit of the age is surrounding our children with an ever-increasing set of "options" of how to live their lives and how to prioritize their beliefs and interests. Almost every Christian parent would agree that the spiritual training of their children is the highest priority in their life. However, there are barriers to this happening. Many of us are simply too busy or too distracted or too interested in our own pursuits to pass on the faith. But, passing on our faith doesn’t happen without intentionality. In this message, Dr. Dan gives four biblical keys to passing on the faith.</itunes:summary>

Today we continue our teaching series on building strong families. When it comes to understanding our uniqueness in Christ, our basic personality is key in how we relate to God and live in authentic community. Another important aspect of that understanding has to do with our family of origin. Family systems, while quite complex, have so much to do with how we learn to live and relate to others in our world. In the story of a young man named Joseph, the Book of Genesis reveals how God worked through a traumatic family system to accomplish His purposes in Joseph and, through him, to impact the lives of many others.</itunes:summary>

The topic today is regarding our unique personalities. God created us all to fulfill His purposes in this world. As we begin our "Strong Families" series, we begin by understanding that a key to healthy spiritual lives and authentic loving relationships is to embrace our uniqueness in Christ . Today the message unpacks some directions in our spiritiual lives that pinpoint the fact that spirituality is not a "one size fits all" deal. Our individual uniqueness means we will all experience God's presence and learn to relate to Him in different ways.</itunes:summary>

			<itunes:summary>2008/02/24 - Pastor Dave Sharpes - This message is a message of challenge and hope and is rooted in the heart of the teachings of Jesus as read in the Sermon on the Mount. Is what we profess as Christians, truly being lived out and bringing to our world the manifestations of the Kingdom for which Jesus prayed?
I confess that it often appears that our understanding of God’s Kingdom is less founded upon Jesus and His teachings, and more often on the agenda and ideals of one particular political party or a narrow list of platform issues. As evangelical Christians our social heritage is much broader (and deeper) and has clear ties to the moral conviction of living out our faith through caring for all of God’s creation. Radical concepts like revival and social reformation are a part of what it means to be evangelical Christians. Those who lived out a personal relationship with Jesus Christ became abolitionists, anti-slavery voices, leaders in women’s suffrage, and defenders of child labor laws. To have a personal relationship with Christ was not a moment of decision, but an invitation into a life of bringing the Kingdom of God to our world. Have we lost our way?</itunes:summary>

Later that year he returned to the Middle EAst and began his ministry in Jerusalem, and then in Amman, Jordan. He married Naomi Pashgian in April of 1952. <itunes:summary>08/19/2007 - Karen Khadhatryan - Today’s message is from Pastor Karen Khachatryan, Pastor and church planter for the Church of the Nazarene in Armenia. Pastor Karen tells his “Journey of Faith” and talks about the work he is leading in our partner country of Armenia.
God has had His hand upon Pastor Karen Khachatryan long before Karen even knew there was a God. At the age of 15, Karen filled out a survey to help determine his course of career training. As Karen sat in the career counselor’s office, overlooking Mt. Ararat, he checked the box marked “Interested in Spirituality”. The counselor looked over his survey and asked him if he knew the significance of the mountain outside the window. Raised in an atheistic, communist family in Armenia during the time of the USSR, Karen replied, “No.” The counselor then asked him if he knew who Noah was. Again Karen replied, “No.” After looking again at the survey, the counselor asked Karen if he had ever heard of a book called the Bible. For the third time, Karen answered, “No.” Finally, the counselor scratched out the checkmark and said, “You made a mistake on your form.”</itunes:summary>

			<itunes:subtitle />
			<itunes:summary>08/05/2007 - Pastor Dave Sharpes - Last week we talked about the issue of trust, asking the question “Do You Trust God?” Trust is at the center of any healthy relationship and is core to our relationship with Him. For those of us who have found Him trustworthy and true, we seek to live lives that answer with an affirming “yes!”
Today we will consider that relationship from God’s perspective. Turning the tables just a bit, we ask, “Can God Trust Me?” In the Bible, the God who knows our hearts, also describes tangible responses that He says demonstrates trust with Him. The apostle Paul writes, Now it is required that those who have been given a trust prove faithful. In this message we will examine the excitement of a journey of tangible faith that shows that what God entrusts to us, we will faithfully use for His glory.</itunes:summary>

			<itunes:author>CrossRoads Nazarene Church AZ</itunes:author>
			<itunes:subtitle />
			<itunes:summary>08/05/2007 - Pastor Dave Sharpes - Everyone is on a faith journey. The issue seems to be, “in what do you place your faith?” There are and have always been many options. Unfortunately, some of those options can become traps that bind us and hinder us from living fully for God and into His purpose for our lives. Because of some manipulative teaching in the church, there is suspicion when discussing one of these options for faith: possessions.

One day Jesus met a man who was exercising his options, and finding himself frustrated and trapped by a greedy and selfish heart. His issue was a focus on success in life and was defined by his possessions. In compassion, Jesus showed the man, and all of those listening in that day, the way to life that centers on God’s purpose for us. Our attitude toward possessions and how we use them is often an indicator of a deeper trust issue between us and God. Jesus was pretty clear when he said: where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.</itunes:summary>

			<description>07/22/2007 - Pastor Dan Spaite - As we continue our series called “Beating the Heat,” we&amp;amp;apos;ll deal with another issue that can be a problem in the church. Today we are going to MAKE SURE OUR AIR CONDITIONING WORKS. We are going to learn what the Bible teaches us about KEEPING COOL in the midst of all that life throws at us. We are going to see the biblical answer for having VICTORY over FEAR. Even BELIEVERS can struggle with fear. But…we don&amp;amp;apos;t have to live with fear and anxiety and worry. Our Lord has a plan to DELIVER us from fear.</description>

			<itunes:summary>07/15/2007 - Pastor Dave Sharpes - Water is a cool weapon against the summer heat. Getting in the water or even just staying beside water can help to cool your body down. Drinking water can also help you combat the summer heat and help maintain the body in a good state, both physically and mentally.
In our series entitled, “Beating the Heat” we are concentrating on what it takes spiritually to keep from withering when the pressures and pains of life and living can sometimes deplete us and begin to damage us as individuals and thereby as a Body.
This week part of the diagnosis is “drink plenty of water.” Spiritually that means that trust needs to fill us and refresh our lives as we stay near the source of the “living water” that is Jesus Christ. Trust is a key to any healthy relationship and central to the health of the Church Body. When we allow our minds to fill with offense and suspicion of others and (sometimes) even of God – it eventually impacts our spirit and damages the unity that the Spirit of God intends for the Church. Today we are going to look at the reasons for offense and see with the help of God how to stay spiritually healthy, even when the heat is on!</itunes:summary>

			<itunes:summary>07/08/2007 - Pastor Dave Sharpes - It is July and that means that the heat is on in the valley! And if a person is not careful, over-exposure to the heat can have serious or even deadly consequences. So today at Crossroads we are beginning a series called “Beating the Heat.” And specifically today we are going to use one of the suggestions for beating the heat, that being, to “wear light weight, loose fitting clothing,” as a metaphor for our spiritual health as well.
Over the next few weeks we want to talk about the discomfort and pressure that is generated in our hearts and minds when the “heat is on” in our relational world. Unfortunately, it usually gets to dangerous levels when we are out of sync with God’s intentions and desires for us.
Jesus said, “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” If that is the case, why is it that so many Christians live under so much pressure? And if that is not the design of God for us, then what is the solution to beating the relational heat in our lives?</itunes:summary>

			<itunes:summary>07/01/2007 - Pastor Dave Sharpes - On this July 4th weekend, it is appropriate for those of us who are Americans to celebrate our heritage, a heritage that is characterized by our proclamation of freedom, a freedom that came from great sacrifice. With such great freedom comes ominous responsibility to use it to insure real justice, true peace, and real love for all of God's creation in America and around the world. While we may truly be patriotic as Americans, our higher citizenship is to the Kingdom of God. God is the ultimate authority over the temporary kingdoms of this earth and He can use earthly governments for His purposes when the people of those governments live in dependence upon Him. As Christians, we have to clearly say that the hope of the world is not our nation, but is Jesus Christ, and Him alone. My prayer is that as we celebrate our Declaration of Independence as a nation; that we will continue to use that freedom to demonstrate clearly and consistently our "declaration of dependence" on God.</itunes:summary>

			<itunes:summary>05/27/2007 - Dan Spaite concludes "The God Questions" series by addressing the question "Is the Bible really true?" There have been a lot of stories in the media recently claiming the "real Jesus" has been discovered or that the Scriptures were "formed" out of the "theological needs" of the early Christian community rather than out of actual historical facts and eyewitness reports. Sometimes, people who are genuinely seeking the truth can get very confused on what to believe. Even those who claim to follow Christ can sometimes have their faith weakened by what they hear in the national media. Listen as Dr. Dan explains the authenticity of scripture, raising the confidence level of those who may have doubted and helping us all to see that the Bible is indeed the true and accurate word of God.</itunes:summary>

As we have been exploring over the past several weeks, Jesus is really the crux of the answer to our God questions. So, the message could very well be changed to "WHO is the purpose of life?" If we make Jesus both the first and last of our life, we can expect to find the adventure of a lifetime, one filled with real meaning. Life may not always be easy with God at the center, but it is worthwhile because it gives our lives ultimate meaning, purpose and direction. As parents, and especially speaking to mom’s on this Mother's Day, our commitment to Christ has a great impact on how our kids see and learn to respond to God. So, today we want to explore that question through a few moments of honest evaluation. Who is the purpose of your life?</itunes:summary>

The most politically incorrect words that Jesus ever said were, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Many thoughtful seekers who profess a belief in a higher power (or god), still think that this claim seems on the surface, narrow-minded, bigoted, or even snobbish. The reason that Jesus' claim strikes such a chord with people is that it destroys three great myths about religion. He destroys the myth that all religions are basically the same. He destroys the myth that even though Christianity is different, it's just one philosophy among many philosophies that are equally as valid. And He destroys the myth that He is snobbish and narrow-minded when He claims that He is the only way to heaven.</itunes:summary>
